Aetna received a Physician Quality Certification from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for its Aexcel® program, a Physician Performance Network made up of health care specialists across the country who meet nationally recognized standards for clinical performance and efficiency.

Aetna finished first among national health plans in the 2011 PayerView® rankings, which found that Aetna’s business transactions and processes are among the most simple to use, efficient and transparent. Aetna has ranked in the top one or two spots for five consecutive years of PayerView rankings.

For the third year in a row, Aetna’s concierge customer service call center has been recognized by J.D. Power and Associates for providing “An Outstanding Customer Service Experience.”*

Aetna was honored by the National Business Group on Health with its inaugural Award for Innovation in Reducing Health Care Disparities. Aetna was among six organizations recognized for a commitment to racial and ethnic equality in health care, and outstanding support for a culturally diverse workplace.

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN) recognized Aetna for its evidence-based approach to drugs used to treat cancer. The NCCN also acknowledged Aetna’s commitment to providing health benefits to members enrolled in clinical trials. Aetna is the first national health plan to be recognized by the group.

The Northeast Business Group on Health awarded Aetna the 2011 eValue8 Performance Award for the New York-metropolitan area. The eValue8 survey was developed by the National Business Coalition on Health to help employers identify health plans with the highest levels of quality and value.

Aetna’s online benefits advisor won a top honor from the Center for Plain Language. The virtual advisor named “David” helps people make good choices when buying a health plan.

For the third straight year, DiversityInc named Aetna to its list of Top 50 Companies for Diversity®. In addition, DiversityInc ranked Aetna one of the top five companies for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual employees, and for employees with disabilities.

For the tenth year in a row, The Human Rights Campaign Foundation in 2012 named Aetna to its Best Places to Work list for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.

Diversity Employers magazine named Aetna to its list of Top 100 Employers for the Class of 2011.

The National Business Group on Health honored Aetna with a Platinum Award as part of its 2011 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards program. Aetna is one of several U.S. employers honored for an ongoing commitment to promoting healthful work environments and encouraging workers to live healthier lifestyles.

Aetna earned accreditation as a CEO Cancer Gold Standard™ Employer for its commitment to fighting cancer in the workplace. The CEO Roundtable on Cancer recognizes Aetna’s commitment by certifying the company’s efforts to meet a high standard of cancer prevention, screening and care guidelines.

Aetna is the first health insurer to offer electronic contract processing to doctors, as well as hospitals and other health care facilities.
